Trophy Room – Great food and service

Trophy Room – Introduction

Trophy Room in North Hobart has burst onto the scene and been busy from Day 1! The owners, Rose and James started with interesting breakfast options, very good pastries, excellent bread and a variety of lunch options. However they have now moved to serving lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Saturday.

If you are a visitor to Hobart then this is a must-visit venue. There is an open kitchen here so you can see the chefs preparing your meal up close. There is never any observable panic or stress, just a smooth application to the task at hand.

They also do good coffee, with the roasted beans sourced from Villino in Moonah.

We have visited here a number of times already and been delighted with the food, the service and the ambience. There is a large central shared table and then other smaller tables around the edges of the bright, sunny space looking over the domain. (For those of you who live in other states, the domain is a large semi-forested area that was established as a public reserve in 1927 to provide a space for the public to exercise.)

Every time we have walked in here the word that springs into our mind is “professionalism”. The cooking in the open kitchen, the service – everything about the place is carried out in a very professional way.

One time we ordered Pumpkin and Ricotta Tortelli as one dish and a Zucchini and Ricotta Pizzetta plus a side of chips (why not!). Both were cooked beautifully and were very tasty.

We followed with the 1000 Layers pastry which was artful and very, very delicious as you can see in the photo below.

And best of all the food is delicious. The ricotta is house-made, the bacon is house-cured, the pasta is handmade, the bread is house-made (and for sale retail) and it’s all used to great effect.

Groups of six or more at dinner are required to dine on the Feed Me set menu at $90 a head. There is an a la carte menu for everyone else, although all diners can order the Feed Me menu to take advantage of the best of what the chefs have designed for that day.

We should also mention that the music is carefully thought out like everything in this deliughtful restaurant. The vinyl selection here is interesting and the staff are prompt in changing sides or changing choices to ensure that an interesting array of music enhances the experience here.
