Cult Logic Coffee – Exciting Venue

Cult Logic Coffee

Cult Logic is a new favourite of ours in Hobart. They both roast the beans they serve and also run the coffee shop in collins Streeet that they have recently opened.

It is a great venue with excellent coffee (both espresso and filter) and a range of snacks that are perfect for a quick breakfast for those heading to work or for those with some leisure time to accompany one or more coffees.

The owners of Cult Logic know what they are doing and they not only dispense the food and coffee in the shop but they also roast the beans which, to our taste, have been roasted with care and precision.

On our first visit to Cult Logic we were treated to a recently roasted Gesha coffee (Gesha is one of the most sought after coffee varieties) that had been sourced from Colombia in South America where the coffee industry is thriving due to the perfect conditions for growing coffee beans there.

Coffee trees like temperatures between around 18 degrees Centigrade to 22 degrees – enough heat to encourage growth but not too much, and not too cold as the beans do not grow very well.

They also like significant rainfall 1000 – 2000 mm per year but with a period where it is dry to help the beans ripen. The trees also like high the high altitudes in the Andes mountain range (1000 metres – 2000 metres) as the beans ripen slowly thus taking on additional flavour.

The beans had been roasted perfectly and the flavour was excellent. A great first cup at this exciting new establishment.

And also remember that you can find Cult Logic roasted beans elsewhere. We often have their coffee on our regular visits to Rosie in My Midnight Dreams on the Brooke Street Pier, for example.

And we like to point out their Web site because we like people in all endeavours who admit that they are still learning – this is ever thus with coffee which is such a huge topic to master! One of their statements particularly caught our eye:

With every stride forward we become increasingly aware of how much there is that we don’t know and we are perpetually looking to progress and improve our practise when and where we can.

We have also mentioned Cult Logic in our story on where to eat and drink in Hobart here.
