The Devil’s Own – Introduction
After a pleasant walk from the centre of Launceston through the iconic City Park, turn left along Lawrence Street and you will find a set-back cottage serving the best ice cream in that northern city, called The Devil’s Own Ice Creamery.
This used to be home to the best southern USA food in Tasmania for many years. After working in New Orleans for some time, we were delighted when we found that similar food right here in Tasmania. Anyway John has now retired after a long innings serving great food to the locals and the ice cream venue has taken its place.
We like the fact that the ice cream is made using organic milk from the wonderful crew at Elgaar Farm near Deloraine and that the ice creams are made without preservatives or other unwanted additives.
We enjoyed our recent visit to The Devil’s Own where we were able to sit at a sunny outside table in early May and enjoy a deeply flavoursome chocolate ice cream.
