Big River Highland Beef is the brain child of Bec Lynd and Bec Tudor who maintain a herd of around 60 Scottish Highland cattle on their 140 hectare property at Plenty in the Derwent Valley.
The Scottish Highland cattle are raised using sustainable practices and reach the age of four before they are sent to the abattoir. They strive to use as much of the animal as possible even producing tanned hides, suet, skulls and horns.
You can find occasionally their cuts of meat at the New Norfolk market and regularly at the Huon Valley Meat Company shop in Goulburn St, Hobart right next door to Pigeon Hole Cafe.
